The 2026 Costa Rica (MBA) program is available during the Summer 2026 Intersession from May 10 - 19, 2026.

About the Program

This Summer Study Abroad Program is a 10-day program. The first 7 days of the program will be spent traveling the Central Valley and Caribbean side of Costa Rica. Through a series of lectures and business visits, students will become familiar with the role of socially, culturally, environmentally, and economically sustainable business practices particularly within emerging markets. Possible visits include:

  • Finca Bella Coffee Farm
  • Monteverde Cosmetics
  • VMware
  • Tico Fruit

The remaining part of the program will be spent at the Tamarindo Diria, a beach resort on the Pacific Coast.

By enrolling in this course, you will engage with the . These global goals tackle today鈥檚 most urgent issues鈥攆rom health and climate action to innovation and cultural preservation.

The program is open to all students meeting the course prerequisites. No language skills will be required; all courses/lectures will be taught in English. Two Saturday course sessions will be held on the UL 青涩直播 campus prior to departure.

With more than 25% of the country protected by the national park system, Costa Rica鈥檚 lush tropical forests are home to 5% of the world鈥檚 biodiversity鈥攎ore than 400 types of birds can be found in the famous Monteverde Cloud Forest alone. Costa Ricans have a strong commitment to protecting local ecosystems and to creating a green society. The capital, San Jos茅, is also home to the Inter-American Court of Human Rights and the United Nations University of Peace. As a hub for environmental research, sustainable innovation, and advancement in human rights, Costa Rica is the ideal destination for exploring social and environmental business practices.

Program Requirements

The program cost is $TBD, plus University fees of $TBD, totaling $TBD. After you have applied for your desired program, you must make a deposit of $500 via ULINK. The $500 deposit is applied towards the cost of the program. The initial deadline to apply and pay the deposit is December 16. A $100 late fee will be charged after December 16. Program cost includes tuition for 3 credit hours, lodging, most meals, field trips and excursions, and academic activities. Airline information will be provided to the group of participants, but airfare is not included in the program cost and must be purchased by the student. Other personal expenses include passport and visa costs, eating out, shopping, entertainment, and personal health insurance.

United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 12 鈥 Responsible Consumption and Production: This goal promotes sustainable consumption and production patterns. The course highlights Costa Rica鈥檚 leadership in sustainability and eco-friendly industries.

An introduction to the vocabulary and practices of international business to include a cross-disciplinary perspective of the complexities of international management and competition. We will utilize targeted readings along with experiential field trips to the jungle, where you can see volcanoes, monkeys, and toucans, along with the incredible biodiversity of Costa Rica.
